Build-a-Wheelchair

Our Build-a-Wheelchair challenge has teams assembling wheelchairs from prefabricated parts, working against the clock to complete a unit that passes a full safety inspection. Every wheelchair built is then donated to someone in need, giving your team a hands-on activity with a genuinely visible impact. It's a meaningful way to combine teamwork with real charitable purpose.

How It Works

Teams work together to assemble a wheelchair from prefabricated parts, racing against the clock before each completed unit passes a safety inspection.

  1. Receive wheelchair parts and an assembly brief
  2. Assemble the wheelchair as a team
  3. Each completed unit undergoes a safety inspection
  4. First team to finish and pass inspection wins
  5. Assembled wheelchairs donated to people in need

Why Build-a-Wheelchair Works

It's meaningful, hands-on, and impact-driven. Teams aren't just competing, they're doing something that changes lives, with a visible result from start to donation.

Real Impact

Provides genuine mobility support to those in need.

Simple Setup

No special skills required to take part.

Visible Purpose

An immediate result from build to donation.

Why Teams Book This

CSR briefs sometimes ask for something with genuine, visible impact, not just a feel-good afternoon.

Build-a-Wheelchair delivers exactly that. Teams assemble real wheelchairs from parts, which go directly to people with mobility needs in the local community.

It pairs well with our build-a-bike CSR challenge and build a bear CSR team building activity.

Good to Know

  • Each wheelchair has only a few parts removed, so assembly is straightforward
  • Every completed wheelchair passes a safety check before donation
  • Teams are given different parts, so no two builds are identical
