Public Transportation. Pattaya has a good network of public transportation which includes buses, songthaews and taxis. These are all affordable options for getting around the city. Jump on a songthaews for as little as THB 20. Renting a Motorbike. If you’re comfortable riding a motorbike, renting one is a great way to explore this city. Be sure to wear a helmet and don’t leave your passport with the rental agency!

Eating Out – Food in Pattaya

  • Pad Thai – This classic Thai dish is a must-try when you’re in Pattaya. Look for it at street vendors and local restaurants.

Travel Pattaya FAQ’s

The most common ways to travel from Bangkok to Pattaya are by bus, taxi, or private transfer. The average price for a taxi is around THB 2000. There are also some train options available, although these tend to be slower and less convenient. Trains don’t go into Pattaya so you would need to hire a taxi!

The currency used throughout Thailand is the Thai baht. there are plenty of banks and currency exchange shops scattered throughout Pattaya.

Credit cards are accepted at many hotels, restaurants, and shops, but it’s always a good idea to carry cash as well, particularly for smaller purchases.

Some of the best beaches include Jomtien Beach, Wong Amat Beach, and Koh Larn (Coral Island). We don’t recommend the beach along the main Pattaya strip. 

Visitors who travel to temples should dress conservatively, with clothing that covers the shoulders and knees. Remove your shoes before entering temple buildings.
